Technical Information

Brief overview of the risk:
The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer. An attacker would have no way to force users to view specially crafted content. Instead, an attacker would have to convince users to take action, typically by getting them to click a link in an email message or in an Instant Messenger message that takes users to an attacker’s website, or by getting them to open an attachment sent through email.
Detailed Information on the risk:

A remote code execution vulnerability exists in the way that affected Windows components handle specially crafted 2D geometric figures. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user views files containing such specially crafted figures using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could take complete control of an affected system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full administrative rights.
